Dull Day

It seems like half the teachers have taken the day off, or are busy visiting their new schools so it's really quiet around the office. Lately Yamaguchi sensei, one of my JTE's, has been coming to my desk quite often and chit chatting with me. I'm not sure if she's worried about me since Mariko is leaving, or if she just has more time to chat now that her duties have changed. Whatever the reason, I like it because I enjoy our conversations and it also helps break up the monotony of the day. It's definitely much quieter around my desk when Mariko is not around. Mariko likes to joke that she's "not very typically Japanese" in that she is very outgoing and extroverted. I've only had the chance to meet my new supervisor briefly, but if Mariko is an example of "not typically Japanese" then I have a feeling she must be "very typically Japanese" since she barely spoke a word to me when we met. I guess she's a little shy, but hopefully that will change once we get to know each other better.

Nothing else much new with me. I just bought a DVD burner and will be happy to make DVD's of my videos if anyone wants one. I'm still trying to figure out how exactly to do that though.

I'd love a copy of your videos, but I still don't have a DVD player!

I can record to VHS too if you want. I'll probably hold off making an 'official' movie DVD until after I've made a few more movies, but I can throw one together if anyone really wants one. I'll probably try putting together a nice DVD with menus and stuff at the end of July for Jenny, or any other leaving JETs that might want one.

Jamie, welcome to the 'real' JET experience with a 'typical' supervisor! It's good that you have another teacher to talk to though. You'd probably better start learning some Japanese though, don't you think? Haven't met my new sup yet, still relaxing at home this week! aaaahh!
