Kate and I checked out Asamushi Aquarium on Sunday.
Here's what we saw...
Follow up:
The strange looking mascots for the place were impaled on metal poles as you walk in. Could they be sea lions perhaps?
First stop was to see "Dolphins Super Live"... 'cause "Regular Live" just doesn't cut it anymore.
Kate never misses a chance to pretend her hand is stuck in a giant clam.
They look so cute and innocent, but these dolphins are just plain evil. Maybe I'd turn bad too if kept in a small concrete prison, surrounded by gawking Japanese tourists.
For some reason the aquarium has four dolphins in two seperate tanks; one large tank for the Super Live show and this tiny round one where they keep imprisoned two bottle-nosed dolphins. The two dolphins in this tank spend the whole day swiming in circles and intentionally splashing any human that walks near the thing.
Kate gets close and personal with some prickly sea beasties.
Not sure what this species of fish is called, but it looks like it must date back to a time before dinosaurs began roaming the Earth.
Kate's poses with one of her favorite sea creatures, the giant squid. As far as preserved giant squid go, this one really isn't all that giant, but still kinda cool to look at.
