Capsules coming to America

I just told you the other day about the really cool dekotora toy trucks Kate and I bought. Well we bought them from a capsule vending machine, something that you will find in almost every store in Japan. Of course we have capsule toy machines back home, mostly in bowling alleys, but the toys inside are of a crappy looking and non-collectable variety. In Japan capsule toys are just so much cooler, and it really is no surprise why they are as popular here as they are. I've already dumped probably way more money than I should on little thumb sized toys, but I just can't stop buying them. Yesterday I even bought a mini lake trout... hey it's only 100 yen why not?! I'm still in denial of my growing toy collecting obsession and have yet to invest in a display case which is the next logical step towards full otaku status. I know I'm not the only JET with this problem as I have seen toy collections growing in many an aparto in Aomori.

Well looks like even after JET ends I still won't be free of these money sucking toy machines as apparently Namco and Bandai have combined forces to finally bring cool capsule toys to America, and presumably Canada. I guess I really shouldn't complain. In fact I should be happy! I mean is there really any better use for money than buying miniturazied toys? I think not, and I dare anyone to convince me otherwise!

By the way: If you can't wait for capsule machines to come to your home town, then you can always order the toys from my sponsor Lik-Sang.com. ;)
