I'm back baby!

2005-09-09 | by Jamie | Categories: Deep Thoughts, Novelty Music

Hey now my babies! You can all finally breath a big sigh of relief as Avoidinglife.com has returned! Sorry for all the downtime, but there wasn't much I could do about it. My host suddenly and without warning decided to suspend my account last weekend, and I've spent every waking moment since trying to get them to tell me why, and unsuspend it. Finally after 6 days of constant harassing they caved and told me what happened.

Avoidinglife.com was being hosted on a shared webserver with an unknown number of other websites, but apparently was using over 50% of the server's resources. This caused all the sites on the server to run slowly, so they suspended my account. As a result this site, Tamenobu, EricainJapan, Francois's site and others were all knocked out of commission. It would have been nice of my host to tell me this problem existed BEFORE suspending my account, or perhaps even immediately after when I asked them, or perhaps one of the next 8 times I asked... but I digress. In a way I guess I'm a victim of my own success, but mostly I'm just the victim of a lazy webhost with communication problems.

Thanks for all your kind words of concern that many of you sent via email over my absence. A special thanks goes to Luke Elliot who went out of his way to begin a cyber manhunt to track me down. Well, luckily I've found a new host for this site and will be gradually restoring things around here to normal over the coming days.

Now to reward your patience and loyalty, here's a great new novelty MP3 for you all... The Night KITT Saved Christmas. Enjoy.

Thanks for continuing to host my site as well, I was worried that I'd actually have to PAY for a host!

Hopefully this new host won't be as crap as the last one was.

I hope so too! Just a warning to those of you I'm hosting. Please don't update your sites just yet. I haven't transfered them to the new server, so anything you add might get lost. I'll let you know when it's safe.

Been following your site for a while its awesome, I'll be applying for JET in the coming weeks. But anyways I think you could get a better hosting deal with dreamhost.com

-$7.95 (USD)
-4800mb storage
-120gb file transfer
-free domain and can fully host 3 full domains
*also every week they increase your storage by 40mbs and file transfer by 1gb forever.
etc...

Well thats my shameless plug to get me referral rewards but anyways Its a good deal.

also, glad to see the picture of you as a tree back up. Not saying that goat thing wasn't charming, but who doesnt think seeing a grown man dressed in a sectional tree costume is teh wins?

Hi Wakeen,
I looked at Dreamhost but didn't choose them because they didn't offer any plans for the amount of bandwidth I need. They are cheap, but that also makes me suspicious since companies can also be too cheap as well as too expensive. Who knows what they might be upto. I hope they are on the up and up because my friend at MyPrivateTokyo seems to be using them as well.

Everyone else, thanks for your kind words! Sorry for abandoning you. Melissa, what cow song is that? The KITT song comes off the Knight Rider soundtrack I think.

I thought 120gbs a month would of been enough? I've been with them since 2003 no problems but I'm sure you get way more traffic than I do.
