Kamala Sings!

12/18/06 | by Jamie | Categories: Novelty Music, Pro-Wrestling

A while back I wrote this article about my single most favorite thing in the world, namely music recorded by professional wrestlers. I spent a good deal of time researching and listening to all the different wrestler turned musicians I could find, and when I was done I came to the sad realization that it could be a very long time until I discovered another great wrestle-rock gem. You can imagine my joy upon discovering in this article from X-Entertainment that the terrifying Ugandan Giant Kamala has recorded a CD titled "The Best of Kamala: Vol 1"! Who knew that the uncontrollable wildman Kamala could even speak, let alone sing? I was eager to hear what kind of songs a crazed jungle tribesman like Kamala would come up with. Would it consist solely of unintelligible screams or grunts? If he somehow found a way to speak, would he sing of his times chucking spears and biting the heads off chickens? Surely whatever it was, it would earn a place in the pantheon of great concept albums, right between Metal Machine Music and "Chris Gaines: Greatest Hits".

Sadly however, it would seem that Kamala chose instead to use his powers of voodoo to channel the voice and musical stylings of Isaac Hayes. He even created the uninspiring stage name of James Harris for his new mellow alter-ego. At any rate, now that you've been warned go ahead and click here to download the song Papa's Girls from the album, if you dare! For the rest of Kamala's R&B tunes you can stop by TheGiantKamala.com, as each page on the site plays a different track off the album. Anyway, I just hope that if there's ever a "Best of Kamala: Vol 2" that Kamala gets back to his roots and lets loose the wild man that once put fear into the hearts of young wrestling fans the world over.

I'm a little miffed that you let me know this exists when it's far too late to get it in time for Christmas.
