I just read on Spacing that my favorite McDonald's in Toronto is being torn down to build a condo! The McDonald's in question is the big one opposite the ROM at Bloor and Avenue rd. It is also well known around the world as the McDonald's where a drunk Ashlee Simpson went nuts a few months ago. The building is really cool and unique looking, and even though the condo they are building will have a new McDonald's you can pretty much guarantee that it won't be anywhere close to as nice as this one.

Never before has anything ever gotten me this angry and fired-up! Help stop this terrible injustice and save this historic McDonald's while there is still time!! Join my new Facebook Group and help the cause!!! Fight the power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, Jamie, I used to go to the McDonald's almost every lunch hour back when I worked at an ESL school a couple of doors down the street from it. There was this young manager dude with tattoos covering both arms who used to sternly warn the girls at the register that they were never to say: "Would you like something to drink?" but to always say instead: "Would you like Coke or Sprite with that?"

Sadly, I'm afraid to join your FaceBook group because FaceBook is too complicated for me and I always end up sending private messages to everyone on my "friends" list, and I don't even know some of my "friends."

Oops, I meant to say "I used to go to THAT McDonald's . . . " not, "I used to go to THE McDonald's." When I return to Toronto, I will need to go back to the ESL school I used to teach at . . . this time as a student.

Hey Luke! Good to hear from you. Strangely I actually read "the" as "that" when I read your first comment. I guess the brain knows how to get around those kinds of things. I'm sure your English will be fine when you get back, but you'll no doubt go through some reverse culture shock when you get back. Kate and I still miss Diaso, Doutor or Gusto.
