Happy Canada Day Eh!

07/01/04 | by Jamie | Categories: Deep Thoughts

Just remembered today is a national holiday back in my home country. Sadly I have to "work" today. Of course by work I mean sit at my desk and do nothing again. This whole week has been a breeze so far. Noheji is having its school festival this weekend and classes have been cancelled so that students can prepare. I still don't know what a Japanese school festival consists of exactly, but the students have been doing a lot of marching as well as working on arts and crafts. Every class has been working on some kind of project like painting giant murals & banners or stringing cans together. Lots of students have also been spray painting T-shirts with interesting Engrish slogans and pictures (like pot leaves and such). Judging from what I've seen so far, Noheji would be a great place for recruiters from Japanese T-shirt manufacturers to find new talent. The sucky thing about this festival is that I'm going to have to come to school all weekend. I don't know what exactly I'll be doing, but I've just been told that I will have to judge the student's painting and marching abilities. I'm looking forward to going "Simon Cowell" on their asses!

JamieQuebec is just barely part of Canada, so it's okay if you are omitted. Vive le Quebec libre!
