Right now it's five to noon and I'm all alone in the staff room at Rokasho High School. I finished all my classes for today and have to wait out the next 3 or 4 hours. I say 3 or 4 because I have no idea when my quiting time is. I tried to find out by asking my JTE (Japanese teacher of English) but he either doesn't know or didn't understand my question. There are no classes this afternoon because all the students are going to a farm and learning about milking cows and plowing fields. At least that's what I think is going on. When I asked, one of the teachers make a gesture to indicate cow utters being milked. I thought that sounded like fun, so since I had nothing to do I asked my JTE if I could come along. He looked back at me stunned, like a dear in headlights, and then said 'maybe' which I guess is Japanese for 'no' since he then disapeared and I haven't seen him since.
..oh, some Japanese woman just came up to me and we had another classic 'I have no idea what you are saying' conversation. I think she wants me to go back to my base school in Noheji. I guess I better stop writing now since she probably will think that I didn't understand her and want to have another conversation. Oh well, I guess no cows for me. ![]()
