Two of Avoidinglife.com's oldest and biggest stars are leaving Japan soon and rejoining the real world. The first is Erica, who will no doubt leave many creepy old Japanese men in tears upon her departure, and maybe even me as well. Erica will no doubt leave her same indelible mark upon the 'vieux hommes' of France when she begins her new teaching job there in a few months. Bonne chance Erica, we're all gonna miss you!
The second is Hugh, my longtime life partner from Toronto. While I'm sure there is many a J-girl that will be choked-up by his departure, I don't think I'll be all that upset. It won't be long until I'm forced to return home myself, at which time I'm sure I'll see Hugh in line whenever I pick up my welfare cheque. That is unless I don't see him sooner when he returns triumphantly to Japan in a few months as Hirosaki's newest NOVA teacher.
I should also mention the departure of several other Avoidinglife.com regulars and famed Aomori bloggers, including my old arch nemesis Francois, Reyn, Jacob & Autumn, Reed, Takeyah, David, Liz and Anne. Best of luck to you all, and to all the other leavers. Happy trails!
