Make it stop!

12/22/04 | by Jamie | Categories: Deep Thoughts

A puzzling handout from today's morning meeting. Anyone care to translate?

So it has been snowing pretty much non-stop for almost three days now and Noheji in completely burried under it. Sorry I don't have any photos, but I've been too busy struggling to survive. It wasn't until February last year when we got any snow like this in Noheji. I think the conditions aren't nearly as bad in the rest of Aomori because teachers that come in from out of town told me that they couldn't believe how much more snow there was in Noheji than where they're from. I shoveled out the walkway in front of my house last night after work and by the morning it was completely burried once more. You couldn't even tell that it had ever been shoveled. I cleared it again this morning and by the time I came home in the afternoon, my hard work was completely covered again. I've decided that from now on I'm just going to plow through the snow in my big rubber boots and forget about shoveling. Shoveling is useless in this town. Not only does Noheji get more snow than any other town in the ken, but my parking space seems to get more snow than any other parking space in the lot. My goal this year is to build some sort of snow igloo over my car so that I won't have to brush it off every day. I just hope people will assume that because I'm Canadian that I must know what I'm doing and wont try to stop me. I really hate the snow, but at least I'm happy for this guy who's been waiting all year for this day.

AzimThe manga says it is a "winter break healthy life" and says to look out for accidents, don't go out drinking, exercise (walking!, the only english in the manga... funny), the one with the baseball player doesn't really match up with it's drawing, but says to wash your hands/gargle/keep the air circulated (I'm supposing don't keep stale air in your house) and if You get sick--take care of yourself and get healthy...a rough translation but I hope it helps...

jamieThanks Azim! Without your handy translation I would have made lots of mistakes over the break like drinking and not walking. Phew! I think the baseball player is hitting germs by the way, so your explanation makes sense.

queen ti think you should build an igloo. I am sure it can be added to the lsit of wonderful sites for Noheji. Ask Itayangi Sarah about it, she may have some hints b/c she is building something of that nature in her drive this year too.

jamieRight now it's just two walls dug out around my car. Not sure how I will do the roof part. Last year I had a nice hole that I parked my car in, but the other teachers filled it with snow to level the parking area. I'm affraid they might get jealous of my igloo and destroy it like they did my hole.
