Noheji Homestay

07/16/04 | by Jamie | Categories: Deep Thoughts

A couple of grade 3 girls at one of my schools just asked me if I know any gaijin families in Aomori that would let them do a 'homestay' with them. The school doesn't have the budget to do a real homestay abroad, so I guess this was the next best thing they could think of. Well I don't really know any gaijin families in Aomori, and I doubt too many of the ones that are here would be up for that. After I tried to explain this to them, they suggested that they do a homestay with Jamie-sensei in Noheji! After pondering the idea of having a couple 18 year old girls living with me in my aparto for a while, I decided that maybe it wouldn't be the most appropriate thing for a teacher to do with his students. Once they graduate however...

Luke E.Hi Jamie, I know a couple of gaijin families in Aomori-ken, including my own, so I've sent you a quick e-mail with a web-address etc.

JamieHey thanks Francois and Luke! Luke, I didn't get your email. What address did you send it to? I have my doubts that their homeroom teacher is going to help them out with this, even if I do find someone for them to homestay with. Oh well.

Luke E.Hi again, Jamie. I sent the e-mail to your e-mail link on your blog. Unfortunately e-mails I send through Outlook Express seem to take ages, so I'll send you another copy direct through hotmail just in case

Luke E.Hi Jamie, if you didn't get my e-mail here's my web-page with a link to my family's web page in it. Local gaijin homestays might not be such a bad idea, and even if teachers don't go for it, probably a number of parents like the idea.

lance armstrongWell in two days is my yearly visit to the Tour de France. I will go to the same spot where you saw the great one cycle by, 2 or 3 years ago? I've rented a small child from a friend who will help me in my quest for great goodies from "la caravane publicitaire". So the plan is to arrive 3 hours before to stake out our spot and create barriers to prevent crazed 50 year old women from stealing my stuff. I hope to get at least 5 hats 4 saucissons, fromage pens sun visors key rings etc etc The rent a kid can keep all the candy. After the long ordeal we will retreat to the nearest bar for one hour waiting for the actual race. After I pass leading the field as usual( nobody dopes like a true American) We will retreat to the bar for two hours to wait fot the traffic jams to stop. Just before leaving I will however go back to salute your friend Francois' favorite Ullrich who will arrive 2 hours after the rest of the riders. I'll let you know what actually I have managed to steal in a couple of days. ta ta

Francoiswell, what can I say.. Armstrong is still on top of his world. Man that guy can climb. I dont think Basso will be a threat in the Alps... too bad, cause the tour is over with a week to go. Last year was fun cause we didnt know who was going to win till the very end!
can Armstrong win 7 in a row???

JamieHey Lance. I wish I could go with you to see the race this year. As you know the time you took me was the best part of my trip to France. Just be careful that the kid you hired doesn't get run over by the caravan. His parents might get a little mad at you. I've convinced a bunch of Hirosaki JETs to come with me to France after we're done in Japan and avoid life a little longer. Then I can join you and the crazy old ladies fighting for junk every year!
