I found on You Tube this historic McDonald's Commercial from 1963 that first introduced the world to Ronald McDonald, played appropriately enough by future Today Show weatherman Willard Scott. You can see some images from his other strange spots here, including one where he forces a kid to eat McDonald's food from his magical tray even after the boy tells Ronald that he's not supposed to talk to strangers.

Matthew JohnsThat was funny, yet strange and unnerving on so many levels. Ronald looked a bit hopped-up on something, I don't know what, in that first commercial. Oh Ronald, what won't you eat or inject into yourself?

I must lament, however, because the McDonalds which happens to be 2 minutes from my house (I live in Atlanta, Georgia) has a perpetually broken milkshake machine. Bad management, I guess. I wish Ronald and his magic food tray of infinite milkshakes would show up there so I could get one sometime in the near future instead of whenever they change out managers.

I really do like McDonald's though. Their hamburgers can't be beat!
